Bell Cros Vermouth – where Sweden meets Catalonia
“The heart of Bell Cros is Ann and Peter Skoglund,” says winemaker Joan Asens. “They are Swedish, and they always bring a piece of their homeland – its traditions, flavours, and values – to our Catalan soil.”
When the idea of creating a vermouth was born, we wanted to unite the Swedish and Catalan spirits. We found inspiration in the harebell, Sweden’s national flower, symbolising simplicity and strength, and in classic Swedish pastries such as cinnamon buns and semlor.
The result is Bell Cros Vermouth – ONE OFF #8, a tribute to the Catalan tradition of “el vermut del diumenge” – the Sunday vermouth shared with family and friends before lunch.
The vermouth is a fortified and sweetened wine infused with herbs, citrus, and wormwood. Serve it lightly chilled, ideally at 8–10 °C, with an orange slice or an olive. It pairs beautifully with tapas like olives, patatas bravas, anchovies, sardines, cheeses, or charcuterie.
