Selecció Delfí 2019 – wine with a proud history from 1910
It all began when Delfi’s grandmother bought a piece of land in the early 1910s. The vines that were already growing there were the local grapes Carinyena and Garnacha Negra. Grapes had been cultivated on that patch of land since time immemorial, or at least as far back as anyone could remember. Delfi’s grandfather owned a truck and worked as a haulier. That came to an abrupt end during the Spanish Civil War which raged from 1936 to 1939. It was during this war between the Spanish Republican government and the Nationalist rebels, led by General Franco, that grandfather’s truck was confiscated. So instead he began working in the vineyard. The family also started keeping hens in order to eke a living. They opened a fruit and vegetable shop, selling eggs, grapes, olive oil, almonds and other produce. Read more.
Selecció Delfí 2019
The Delfi family has been cultivating the land around the village of Marça in DO Montsant for generations. Drawing on their years of experience, they selected the very best vine clones in the area. These were planted in the prime location of “Clot de la Vella” in 1954. Tended by the hands of Joan Asens, Catalunya winemaker of the year 2019, these high-quality grapes have produced this delicate, subtle and vibrant wine.
